The Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services has awarded Frederick County Public Schools a grant to cover the cost associated with starting the Project SEARCH program locally. Project SEARCH is a nationally recognized career program that teaches high school students with disabilities competitive job skills and provides them with hands-on training that will lead to permanent employment.

The FCPS division website homepage received an Award of Excellence from CHESPRA, the Chesapeake Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association, in the 2016 Communications Contest.

FCPS is piloting a program designed to bring the experiences students have at the Challenger Learning Center in Richmond into their classrooms. In this video, Greenwood Mill Elementary School teacher Katie Fuñe and several students discuss how the Challenger program uses technology as well as simulated learning and role playing strategies to make science, technology, engineering and math more relevant for students.
